"A Ray Squeezed Through" is a poetry chapbook that rips the skin away from common and sometimes dusty circumstances. Devrie has an awkard nature that is exposed in her earthy, clumsy, and usually very raw poetry. The poetry in this small collection of poems seems to undulate between very meticulously written poems, to stark images chaotically sewn together. The themes of these poems underline her experiences as a young teenager, to motherhood, and they culminate in a letter to her father, who, during his lifetime, was an immense inspiration for her being able to see complicated things as simple things.
