Predators have a bad name. He only wants love!

A simple, yet odd love story... A lonely polar bear falls in love with a Little seal that is terrified of its natural predator. Can their relationship last, or should it even begin? I don't like talking about other opinions in my reviews, but I will say, I've heard about peoples worries that the aging of the animals is a little uncomfortable. The seal is quite young, and the polar bear is... not as young. Their specific ages are obviously not stated in the book, but Seal is quite young, he still has not learned how to swim and is reliant on his mother: Polar Bear has had a bit of trauma in his life and looks to be fully grown. However, given his emotional maturity, I would assume he would only be a teenager to early 20s at most if we're talking human years. Which yes, that would not be good with humans, but since animals age and mature differently, I don't see the same issues in that area as others have. However, Polar Bear is very dense, and so so very lonely. He doesn't realize that he is technically holding Seal hostage, and I can't really tell if Seal is beginning to understand that Polar Bear means him no harm, or if it's the beginning of Stockholm Syndrome. That is more what I worry about. Their whole schtick is that Seal is afraid of Polar Bear, it's natural predator. Their feelings - particularly Polar Bear's - on the other hand don't normally play into the circle of life. So I really hope the future volumes play a bit less into the fear and more of understanding where the other is coming from. All of that said, I do intend to continue reading as the story is inviting and the simple, yet tasteful art is adorable! Especially the bonus artwork in between the chapters. If you're looking for a laid back read, definitely check this book out. Even if you only want the first volume and treat it as a one shot, it is worth it.

It is so sweet!

I cried and laugh several times while reading volume 1. Yes, it is for young readers. But the story has impact and depth handled well for all ages. Highly recommend
