Great starting place

This book, while a little long-in-the-tooth in terms of today's paddling conditions, does offer a good volume of information about North GA rivers. I found it especially helpful in terms of how to get to the rivers highlighted. The maps are pathetic, but careful attention to the driving instructions usually leads you to (more or less) where you need to be. If you are new to Georgia, or new to paddling (like I was) this will be a good starting point for your exploration of North Georgia mountain streams. Expect some trial and error here. Some recommendations (like Cooper Creek) are almost amusing in their lack of accuracy. I did eventually find Cooper Creek (an upcoming "star" of whitewater adventure) but my only enjoyment was being able to drive my car through a river - like you see in commercials. There was literally about 3 inches of slowly trickling water there. On the other hand the Cartecay and Chestatee rivers were great. If you need a good starting point, this book will do.
