Book Overview

A Newcomer's Guide to the Bible serves readers whom other guides to the Bible overlook. Perfect for Biblical Foundations

I really enjoyed leading a study with this book & workbook. Great content, & discussion questions.

Great book

As someone who has started and stopped reading the Bible too many time to count, this book has been wonderful. As the other reviewer has stated, this book reads more like a history book. The author explains in simple terms, ahow all the stories/parts of the Bible are related to one another. Also,he uses charts and maps that show movement of people and how they are related to one another. I've referred back to these pictorials time and time again, each time understanding it better. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning about the Bible but has been intimidated by its scope and size. This is a great companion to your Bible.

An excellent guide for beginning Bible readers

This book reads like a historical novel. Unfamiliar terms are explained. After reading the book, you will have a broad grasp of the Bible and its important concepts. You will be prepared to pick up a Bible and read any part, knowing how it fits into the whole. You will know why the Bible is considered one story, even though it was written by over 40 authors during a time period of 1500 years. In the preface I learned that the book was originally prepared to be translated into Russian for the benefit of Russian schoolteachers, assigned with the task of teaching the Bible to school children. Growing up under communism, these teachers had no Bible background. I highly recommend this book. It truly is an introduction to the Bible written for someone who knows absolutely nothing about it. But even though I have been a Bible reader for many years, I found this simple presentation extremely helpful.
