Book Overview

"A beautiful, lyrical, and achingly brilliant story about love, grief, and family. Henry's writing will leave you breathless." --BuzzFeed

Romeo and Juliet
meets One Hundred Years of Solitude in Emily Henry's brilliant follow-up to The Love That Split the World, about the daughter and son of two long-feuding families who fall in love while trying to uncover the truth about the strange magic and harrowing curse that has plagued their bloodlines for generations.

In their hometown of Five Fingers, Michigan, the O'Donnells and the Angerts have mythic legacies. But for all the tall tales they weave, both founding families are tight-lipped about what caused the century-old rift between them, except to say it began with a cherry tree.

Eighteen-year-old Jack "June" O'Donnell doesn't need a better reason than that. She's an O'Donnell to her core, just like her late father was, and O'Donnells stay away from Angerts. Period.

But when Saul Angert, the son of June's father's mortal enemy, returns to town after three mysterious years away, June can't seem to avoid him. Soon the unthinkable happens: She finds she doesn't exactly hate the gruff, sarcastic boy she was born to loathe.

Saul's arrival sparks a chain reaction, and as the magic, ghosts, and coywolves of Five Fingers conspire to reveal the truth about the dark moment that started the feud, June must question everything she knows about her family and the father she adored. And she must decide whether it's finally time for her--and all of the O'Donnells before her--to let go.

Loved it!

Emily wrote an amazing book! It was magical and full of imagination and story, couldn't put it down. I love a used book and I am so excited to pass this book on to someone new and discuss all the magic in these pages with them.

Magical

This book was full of ups and downs. And as I said magical. You will cry and laugh along this adventure. I adore this book

A Pleasant Surprise

I usually am not one for sci-fi/fantasy/imaginative plot lines. But for once I was enthralled in a book that didn't have a typical plot. I found myself seeking out all her other books after reading this one. I'd highly recommend any of Emily Henry's books.

Romeo and Juliet retelling with a dash of magical realism

I love all aspects of this story. I loved that it was a Romeo and Juliet retelling with a dash of magic thrown in. Figuring out what truly happened to both June's family and Saul's family was a little difficult to follow, but, I think that was the point. I loved that both Saul and June figured it out together and went back together. That they chose to love each other and get past their families hate. I will definitely recommend this book to others

We're all pretty excited about Emily Henry's new release, Book Lovers, coming out on May 3. Her previous romances, like Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation combine witty dialogue and sensuous love scenes, not to mention some very well-read characters. Here, we get to know the author of these favorite reads a little better.
