Good early Brockmann

Cassie Brock first meets Felipe Salazar as Carlos, a hoodlum who locks her in the trunk of her car to keep the gang he's with from doing something worse. Six months later, she blows his cover at a fancy restaurant and before the criminals he's having dinner with completely figure it out, Felipe grabs Cassie and goes on the run - knowing that there's a bad apple in the police department and he can't turn there for help. Very soon the news is out that Felipe is a murderer, guilty of a grizzly recent murder. The story is fast-paced and the romance is appealing, but there are some rough edges and a less than fully fleshed out plot. A subplot with Felipe's brother seems to be tacked on, for example, rather than flowing naturally. All in all, recommended but not one hundred percent 'to die for'.
