It was a good story. I like most of Johanna Linsey's books But, I believe this one was a little slow

An okay book. It isn't what I expect from this author. It was a little slow moving compared to her other books.

A Book to Call My Own...Perfection!

A Man to Call My Own is about Marion Laton and Chad Kinkaid, the embodiment of the perfect hero and heroine. This is a great western novel filled with non-stop entertainment, I just couldn't put it down! The misunderstandings and situations between the hero and heroine were realistic and believable. The humor was great and the characters were drawn out nicely. The secondary characters were great too, love 'em or hate 'em. Though it wasn't so much a romance, as it was just a regular novel. I usually like more romance than this book had, but it was still a pretty darn good book in my opinion! I really don't understand the low rating, it might be different from the Malory books, but is still, in it's own right, a great book. Don't be put out at the rating and what people are saying about it, check it out for yourself and decide. It's not just a great love story, it's a great story in general...it left me breathless!

Read in 9 hours and I have 2 kids under 3!

Wow was I surprised after reading this book to see it only rated 2 1/2 stars by reviewers. When I finished reading it tonight at midnight I couldn't wait to read others reviews and see if they liked it as much as I did. I realize I haven't read any of Johanna's books for a few years but I can't believe anyone who reads her books wouldn't like this one. I didn't read the reviews because I don't care to read people putting the book down for whatever reason. I picked it up at the library and I'm glad I did. If you like her books I'd suggest giving it a try and not rely solely on it's low rating here.

LOVED IT!!

I absolutely loved this book! I am a huge fan of Johanna Lindsey and she does it again with this book!!! I recommend this book to anyone who likes a light romance with some hot scenes included but also if you are like me and love those Cowboys then this is the book for you!!!

It was worth the wait!

I just got done reading this book and this was really worth waiting for. Johanna Lindsey is an incredible author and I just wish there were more authors like her. I bought this book the day it came out after work and would have finished it alot sooner if I didn't have so much work to do. Even though the plot is kind of typical, it still was pretty romantic. Like alway, Johanna rocks!

Great western romance

On the train coming home from a Chicago business trip, Mortimer Laton fell between cars and died. Following the funeral in his hometown of Haverhill, Massachusetts, Mortimer's attorney Albert Bridges reads the will in which the preponderance of the estate went to his twin daughters equally. Worried about fortune hunters, Mortimer had one stipulation. To inherit, the girls must marry, but until they do his sister Kathleen will serve as their guardian and approve any groom. Amanda angrily leaves, but Marian understands that they will move to Texas to live with an unknown aunt.Chad Kinkaid works on Kathleen's ranch though he will inherit the neighboring spread. He is attracted immediately to Marian in spite of her dotty clothing and thick spectacles. She falls in love with Chad, but Marian believes he loves Amanda because no one ever cared about her. While Amanda falls in love with someone who seems indifferent to her and Chad has trouble persuading his beloved that they belong together, a behind the scenes manipulator has other plans for the Laton cash.Though there has been a rash of twins serving as protagonists lately, A MAN TO CALL MY OWN is an invigorating 1870s Texas romance. The plot contains an interesting major twist that will surprise the audience but also serve as a reminder of how far communication has come in under a century and a half. Though there is plenty of action, the story line focuses on the couples, more so on Marian and Chad, who readers will like. Johanna Lindsey provides an absorbing tale that her fans will appreciate.Harriet Klausner
