The dreams of a little boy of barely 3 years old, lead him to live enslaved with the illusion of one day reaching the north, without understanding the meaning but only what he had managed to capture from a neighbor who comforted him one day so he would not cry, Manuel said he knew and had lived in the United States (the north) and promised the author to take him one day, however Manuel surely forgot about the promise. At the age of 13, the author turned that dream into a dream and told himself that he had to achieve it. When he was in high school in Mexico City in the 70's, in his literature class, he read part of Don Pedro Calderon de la Barca's play: Life is a dream, which he took as a reference that his dream was not just an illusion, that he needed to be free and that his dream should be a yearning that he should pursue until he achieved it. But he had to find someone other than Manuel, someone to guide him and lead him north and he would be pleased. Thanks to his wife, she, one day when they met, in chatting, the author realized that she would lead him to realize his long awaited and longed for longing. "What is life? A frenzy, What is life? An illusion, A shadow, a fiction; And the greatest good is small That all life is dream And dreams, dreams are." -Life is a Dream, by Pedro Calder n de la Barca (1600-1681)
