A Journey to Paradise

About the Book:

The book is set in the transition period between the end of the British rule and the dawn of Indian Independence. It is a story about how people learn to live under hostile circumstances and still manage to survive, share and to love.

The book reveals the oppression and travails, the tea plantation workers underwent during the British era. It also gives an insight into the little known dark and depressing side of the now beautiful and attractive tourist destination, Munnar.

The protagonist in this story is also exploited by his near and dear ones for their selfish motives. His life will move you, but his boundless love for his family is an inspiration.

About the Author:

Sateesh Ananthapuri was raised in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, but spent most of his formative years in the green valleys of Munnar. Growing up, he was largely influenced by his grandfather's presence, who was an entrepreneur and one of the early settlers in the area.

Sateesh went on to complete his post-graduation in Journalism and then went on to do a Master of Arts in Sociology. He wrote for Kerala Koumudi, Malayala Manorama (Malayalam Weekly editions) and Indian Express during his college years. He currently resides in the Middle East and wishes to return to the rolling hills and winding walkways of Munnar one day.

A Journey to Paradise is Sateesh's first book and is an ode to his grandfather's experiences.
