A Great Love

This is the story of a great love. It unfolds from the moment George and Victoria met at a cocktail party in New York and continues through their life-changing experience of coming to faith in Jesus Christ, then on to marriage and a move to France three years later in 1974. Both pursued graduate studies at Oxford in the 1980s, and Victoria, an editor by profession, took up a second career as a translator in the 1990s. Their ecumenical service to the Church--first as lay ministers working together in France in the area of inner healing and pastoral care, then later at the American Cathedral in Paris after George's ordination in the Episcopal Church, and finally in developing countries such as Rwanda, Haiti, and Armenia--provides the context for their love to mature. This love, for God and for each other, grew even deeper in the course of Victoria's Alzheimer's-like cerebral disorder in the last ten years of her life, when George cared for her devotedly up until her death in 2025. The theme of divine providence weaves in and out of this moving story of love and service.
