Excellent Devotional for Anyone

The spiritual food in this inspiring devotional is appropriate for anyone, not just women. There are nuggets of wisdom shared from a wide range of Christian writers, some from this generation, others from the past. "God does nothing arbitrarily" writes Elizabeth Prentiss (January 3) and if you are fortunate enough to come across this volume, that theme will be reinforced in its pages. January 5 Emilie Barnes reminds us "time with your heavenly Father is never wasted." Ruth Bell Graham adds her input for the first month noting (January 9) that "to keep in shape spiritually, we need spiritual nourishment and exercise." February 6, Amy Carmichael writes, "Thou must look steadfastly through the visible till the invisible opens to thee." Cheryl Biehl (April 7) says, "He invites you to spend time in His presence because He loves you." Mrs. Charles E. Cowman tells us in May 8th devotional that "they who are God's without reserve, are in every state content; for they will only what He wills, and desire to do for Him whatever He desires them to do..." Moving on into autumn, Cora Harris MacIlravy advises, "we endure as beholding Him who is invisible." And the next day Corrie ten Boom writes, "Sometimes what we see as a curse one day becomes a blessing the next." In the month of November Jean Flesming reflectively observes, "as I evaluate my life before the Lord every three or four months, I remind myself that life is seasonal." This sampling just shows the diversity of insight on myriad topics that pertain to anyone seeking to grow stronger by taking in the rich spiritual food in this volume.

My favorite devotional of the many I own.

I seem to have collected quite the assortment of devotionals and of the many that I have this one is consistently my favorite. As a christian with a Baptist upbringing who now attends Calvary Chapel I find that this particular devotional always gives me something new to remember to praise God for or ask for Him to create in me so that I can be a better servant to Him. With so many different submissions from christian greats like Elisabeth Elliot and Ruth Bell Graham and Corrie ten Boom there is always some feast of wisdom within these pages.

every women should read

I have been using this devotional for the last 7 years it goes with me on vacation to the hospital and anywhere else I may go in the United States or out. I am sorry that this is out of print but at least you can still find a copy or two here. you will find that the devotional will help you with your walk with the Lord.

A Practical Women's Devotional

I am constantly using devotionals to enhance my study of the Scripture and to enhance my relationship with the Lord and with those with whom I interact. Ashley Clayton has done in this devotional what no other writer has been able to do: use illustrations and incidents that are applicable to daily life for women while, at the same time, providing plenty of "spiritual meat" to really grow and develop spiritually.I have purchased several copies of this devotional to give to friends. Clayton nonthreateningly has short, practical devotions to assist women in all walks of life to pursue not an outward beauty, but an inward beauty of a "gentle and quiet spirit." I highly recommend this devotional to women of all ages. Whenever anyone asks for my recommendation for a good women's devotional, A Gentle Spirit is always my first recommendation!
