Good old fashioned recipes.

My mother brought us up on recipes out of this cookbook. The instructions are easy to follow and adaptable to suit your tastes. My own children love the no knead bread that I have been making from this book for 20+ years. Great buy.

A Family ARaised on Sunshine

I recently purchased a cook book, A Family Raised on Sunshine. It was in great condition. It is a great book for a beginning cook, for anyone beginning a family. The recipes are simple and good, and the book has lots of tips for anyone beginning anew family. Told my nephew it just my be the best wedding gift he gets. Vickie "Old time cook" Versailles, OH. I *LOVE* this bright, sunshiney book!

At my last place of employment before becoming a stay at home mom, we had a lady who used to pick up books from - somewhere - and bring them in and pass them around for people to take. I don't know why I grabbed this book...maybe the nostalgia of having been written when I was still a toddler...but I am SO GLAD I did! Some of the advice is a little dated, and sometimes the forced, absolute cheerful optimism (which is very 'Brady Bunch'-esque) is hard to swallow. Especially when there's very little concern today about how much sunshine we raise our children on, and far more concern about will they get shot at school, or snatched by a pedophile on the way home. But once you've adjusted your mind to think back to a different time and lifestyle, the book quickly becomes a comfort...an earthy, warming ray of 70's sunshine right there in your hands. Even if you don't buy it for the advice or stories, buy it for the recipes!! Mrs. Nye's banana bread recipe and her Grandma Scheel's Butter Cookies are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a must have in any kitchen!! Let the sunshine..........let the sunshine in!

Incredibly wonderful!

Beverly Nye's three paperbacks are among my most treasured, all-time favorite cookbooks. Every recipe I've made has been absolutely wonderful -- which isn't surprising since they're all tried-and-true family favorites preceded by a brief description of why they're so special. The selection is quite diverse, from wonderful renditions of the basics to unique ones, such as homemade dry cereal. There are also many excellent craft ideas and economical hints/tips. The books are very warmly written; you're gaining access to top favorite recipes which you're bound to enjoy as much as the Nyes do. You can't go wrong with these books ... incredibly wonderful.
