I was expecting the dragon to play a bigger role

I picked up this book because I wanted something related to dragons. Since the book is named for the dragon and he's on the cover, you would think that he would play a larger part in his own story. He doesn't. He's living with a wizard who is murdered and he ends up living with the guy who is investigating the murder. I don't mind murder mysteries, but I was really wanting more of Fanuilh. I bought the series, so hopefully he will have a bigger role going forward. Now that I've finished the first 3 stories in this Omnibus, I can say that his part does not get any bigger. Basically he ends up being a glorified watch dog. Luckily I like Liam and mystery stories. Wizard's Heir was my favorite, and I would have given that one a 4 star rating. In Beggar's Banquet the mystery and murders fell flat. I was not invested in the potential romance with his houseguest either. That entire situation was just awkward and unnecessary. It was fine, but hopefully the next one is better.
