Rousing good sea stories

The sailing and geography in this several book series are exactly on as far as I can tell, the internal and external politics believable, and the adventure magnificent. I believe I remember that somebody once reviewed Joseph Conrad by saying he wrote "rousing good sea stories on seven levels." I am about half way through this series, and I don't think it is an exaggeration to say these are rousing good sea stories on two or three levels anyhow. I do have to confess two areas of personal interest as my great-grandfather was a merchant sea captain from Maine, taken into the yankee navy as a reserve officer, and served on a gunboat in some of the earlier book actions. I don't think he had as good and successful a time as our hero in this series, but the action here all rings true from what my Great-Grandpapa Billy left as his memoir. Great sequence about the southern sympathizers in the earlier books, and the way they reacted in the northern controlled town of Key West as well. Second, I worked and flew small aircraft around Central America and northern Colombia over a long time and I found the geography of that area and the descriptions of the many classes of folks in this book to be right on. Good stories, I recommend them all.

Another good read from Macomber

This is the 4th in the Honor series. It continues to be an interesting and fun read capturing the ups and downs of serving on a US Navy sailing ship.

A Dishonorable Few-Macomber

Another excellent book in Macomber's "Honor" Series. Lt Peter Wake is the Horatio Hornblower and Macomber the C.S. Forrester of the US Navy.

"Left bobbing in the wake of another Macomber thriller."

"Left bobbing in the wake of another Macomber thriller." This fourth novel in a series is a historical momentum builder that whets the reader's appetite for more and more like an old steam engine gradually picking up speed then roaring along, the reader can't get off. Macomber has done it again by enhancing his intrigue delivery system.
