A Celtic Reader: Selections from Celtic Legend, Scholarship and Story

By John Matthews

Book Overview

From the rich array of history, religion, myth, and story that makes up the Celtic tradition comes this broad-based collection of materials, dating from the earliest eras of the written word to 19th and 20th-century scholarship and investigation. Tales of adventure, magic, mystery, and wonder from pre-Christian Ireland and Arthurian Britain interweave with ancient fables, poetry, excerpts from THE MABINOGION, historical investigations into the ancient past, and modern adaptations of ancient themes.
