This spelling workbook provides all the guides, practice, and testing resources you need to plan a full year of spelling for your sixth grader. All the lists were carefully created using educational standards and recommendations so that as your students moves through the workbook they are being adequately prepared for testing, their next academic year, and their life. This workbook was created with ease in mind. Every week has a unit that is clearly defined. Each weekly spelling unit includes a coversheet, 2 teacher resource pages, a pretest, 5 daily practice sheets, and an end-of-week test template. The first practice page invites the student to trace the word twice and then rewrite the word twice. The second practice page has students look through a mixture of correctly and incorrectly spelled spelling words to identify which ones are spelled correctly. The third practice page has students read a sentence with the spelling word in context and select the correctly spelled spelling word. The fourth practice page has students trace the word once and rewrite the word three times. The final and fifth practice page provides a word bank and lines for students to write a sentence with each spelling word. These practice pages were carefully designed to give your students an opportunity to practice seeing, writing, identifying, and comparing each spelling word. Enough practice pages were provided so that you might choose to assign one practice page per day or select which ones you'll use for the week. 10 words are included in each week's unit. 5 blank spaces are provided so you can add personal, review, or thematic spelling words to your weekly list. Each of the words included was carefully chosen to align with the week's spelling pattern or rule. Many spelling resources provide lists of random 6th grade-level words. This isn't as helpful as when you teach and learn spelling methodically. We worked hard to analyze standards, research, and experienced 6th grade teachers to compile and organize our 6th grade spelling methods and setup. Cute clipart and a variety of practice methods help to make this workbook more interesting and fun! Have your student color the pieces of clipart as you go! Week 4- Vowel digraphs such as -ou, or -ough. Week 5- Word endings -nce and -nse. Week 6- Commonly misspelled words Week 7- Suffixes such as -ant, -ance, and -ence. Week 8- Suffixes -al and -ous. Week 9- Prefixes in-, il-, and ir-. Week 10- Two syllable words with a vowel/consonant/vowel pattern. Week 11- Two and three syllable words with a vowel/consonant/-e pattern. Week 12- Commonly misspelled words Week 13- Two syllable words that have -ible, -dle, -ple, and -tle as the second syllable. Week 14- "R-controlled" vowels.
