Turning on the news can often evoke a sense of despair. Perhaps you can relate. Each day, we are bombarded with reports highlighting the world's turmoil, with positive stories being a rare occurrence. However, Mark's gospel reminds us that the narrative is not entirely bleak. God is actively at work, and Jesus is leading the charge

We commence our exploration of Mark's gospel by examining its opening verse, which sets the stage for the subsequent 16 chapters. Mark is recognized as the earliest written account of Jesus' life. Although Matthew precedes Mark in the New Testament, it is Mark that was composed first. Prior to his writing, the early church primarily relied on oral traditions and possibly some written accounts of Jesus' teachings. It is evident that both Matthew and Luke drew from Mark's gospel when crafting their own narratives.
