Among all scriptures worldwide, after the *Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā*, this is by far the most authoritative yoga scripture on prāṇāyāma.
This is the prāṇāyāma that is performed after completing Nadishodhan. When this practice is continued for three years, signs of entering *samādhi* begin to manifest.
The *Yogachūḍāmaṇyupaniṣad* of the Sāmaveda clearly states that prāṇāyāma leads to the destruction of all diseases and all sins.
*Pranayamena yuktena sarvarogakshayo bhavet* (1/2 verse, verse 116 - *Yogachūḍāmaṇyupaniṣad*, Sāmaveda)
*Pranayamo bhavedevam patakendhanapavakah* (1/2 verse, verse 108 - *Yogachūḍāmaṇyupaniṣad*, Sāmaveda)
Attachment itself is sin.
According to the Vedas, attachment is synonymous with sin or death. The Vedas state that attachment arises the moment one comes into contact with sense objects; this constitutes sin - *Brihadaranyaka Upanishad* (Shankara Bhashya), Chapter 1, Brahmana 3, Verse 9.
