I read this book when I was taking classes at American Institute of Holistic Theology, and it was my favorite book of all those I was required to read to complete my courses. Four years later, I still refer to this handbook whenever I feel stuck not knowing how to approach a situation that needs spiritual direction. Its non-judgmental approach supports everyone without a bias toward any particular creed or belief system. I believe in the power of prayer and spiritual ritual, but this book could easily help both the Atheist and the Christian understand that prayer is the equivalent of moving energy-- hopefully in a positive direction. A scientific approach to understanding the electromagnetic field, a full explanation of how prayer works, and some proven methods for implementing prayer in a conscious direction are some of the things I like best about this book. Sample prayers given in this book made me realize how much my prayers in the past had been misdirected as they were guided by my own desire to manipulate an outcome or usurp the will of another person. I had been taught in the church to pray defensively or passively rather than with intent and power. This book not only changed how I pray, but I began to see manifestations or results of my efforts. I am now moving energy in a manner that is aligned with divine will and in tune with the person for whom I am praying. We don't always know what the soul of another person needs for spiritual development, yet we may pray that they see things our way. So, wrong. Learn to Pray Well by reading this book! If this book offends your theology, you've got too much religion for your own good! :) Yvonne Perry, Author of More Than Meets The Eye
