Hitorijime Boyfriend (The Story Where Asaya and Ken Are Way More Than Friends)

During their last elementary year, two friends (Asaya and Ken) are torn apart when Asaya is forced to move to another school. Asaya and Ken are reunited when Asaya shows up at Ken’s high school. Ken seems like the only person affected by Ken ending their friendship years ago. Asaya reveals that he never really thought of Ken as a friend. Ken is blind to Asaya’s true feelings until Asaya makes his move. Ken’s mind becomes a whirlwind when a rumor about Asaya having a girlfriend gets out. Ken gets some relief when he discovers the truth about the girl that Asaya’s been hanging around with. Asaya also seems jealous when Ken’s older brother (Kousuke) and his best friend (Masahiro) get involved. But everything comes to a head when Ken decides to tell Asaya the truth about his feelings for him. I have watched the Hitorijime My Hero anime multiple times before reading the manga series (I love both). I have been waiting for this book for months. As soon as I received the book, I read it within a few hours. I love the ultimatum that Asaya gives Ken: “Either you let me make love to you, or we end our friendship again. What’s it gonna be?” Memeco Arii has done a fantastic job developing the storyline between Asaya and Ken. I love this couple so much, just as much as Kousuke’s and Masahiro’s relationship in Hitorijime My Hero. I would recommend this book and the Hitorijime My Hero series that follows it to anyone who loves reading a good BL manga book series. I can’t wait for the next Hitorijime My Hero book.
