The Legend of Korra – The Art of the Animated Series: Book Two: Spirits is introduced by the voice actor of Bolin, PJ Byrne, to bring his many laughs and reflect on his time being a part of Team Avatar. The Legend of Korra: Book One: Air was dark with bloodbending, but Book Two: Spirits gets even darker. Dark spirits being controlled by Vaatu, trying to throw the world into the Dark Ages, sounds dark, right? There are many lights in the dark, including discovering how the first Avatar came to be by fusing with the light spirit Raava. The art book goes behind the scenes and shows how Korra’s second season, or book, came to be. You get a look at Aang’s kids, Bumi, Kya, and Tenzin. Many struggles are making the show and inside it. But, as a fan, it is worth watching the show and reading the books. And of course, I love the cover of this particular book. Unavaatu is creepy, standing behind Korra’s spirit and body. The posters and artwork are amazing throughout the whole book, and I love reading the stories behind each one. What I probably love most about this book is the poster of Aang, Katara, Bumi, Kya, and Tenzin. I highly recommend reading all four of these books to see the thought process and hard work that went into Korra’s story.
