Book Overview

"Nobody tells the truth about anything anymore. Not anything important. Everybody's lying to everybody else, and everybody knows it." With these words, two great figures in the emerging culture of consciousness begin a searingly powerful dialog about the practical applications of honesty in our everyday lives. Neale Donald Walsh, five times New York Times bestselling author of the book series Conversations with God, and Brad Blanton, noted seminar leader and bestselling author of the Radical Honesty books, here speak with one voice about the new spiritual revolution and its application to both personal and political life.

This book shows the absolute necessity for individual and social transformation and the absolute necessity for honesty in order to bring it about. Climbing down from the ivory tower of philosophers to tackle the problems that vex real people - lying about income taxes, a spouse's infidelity, a terminal diagnosis for a parent or child, the sudden loss of a job, the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks - the authors give us a blueprint for living fully, authentically and honestly in a world full of lies. And they fearlessly confront the changes we need in governance to deal with the social tragedies that focus the attention of today's world.

Their message of honesty offers real hope. Yet it does not gloss over the courage and conviction required to make lasting changes. The authors show that just as great personal tragedy often sparks positive growth if we're willing to face it, great social tragedy can also serve as a pivotal opportunity for positive social transformation.

A remarkably insightful book about transforming oneself

Accessibly co-written by Neale Donald Walsch and Brad Blanton, the respective authors of the "Conversations with God" series and the "Radical Honesty" series, Honest To God: A Change Of Heart That Can Change The World is a remarkably insightful book about transforming oneself by accepting honesty and learning to care about more than just oneself or a close inner circle of friends and family. Frank, straightforward discourse reveals the deception that most people embrace and shows a way out to a clearer, more enlightened, and more compassionate strain of thought. A powerful, moving book about self-improvement and the quest to reduce human suffering in the world, Honest To God is highly recommended reading for self-help, self-improvement reading lists and reference collections.

Setting an example for real dialog

This is a powerful book, by two courageous men about a subject we all crave and studiously avoid: honesty. Neale and Brad sometimes agree, and sometimes don't, but through their exchange we discover something more important than being right: we sit with them in an intimate demonstration of authentic dialog. These days, for many of us, life is no longer about following somebody, adopting a theology or an ism. The true teacher is the meeting, the honest open hearted inquiry into what is so. This book is not only about honesty, it demonstrates it too. You will be challenged to question your own answers.Arjuna ArdaghAuthor: Relaxing into Clear Seeing and How About NowFounder: Living Essence Foundation.

The Eternal Conversation

This book is a must have for any person that values Love, Intamcy, Truth, and Liberation. One of the things that I love so much about this book is that it is not lofty and cerebral. This book is about the meat and grissel of living a "sensational" human life primarily by telling the truth. The conversation that Blanton and Walsch have penetrates some of the most devious ways we all excuse our own lying by withholding. These are the kind of conversations that I desire to have with the people in my life and this book offers a fantastic template for exactly that. If you have enjoyed Walsch's or Blanton's other books, do yourself a favor and add this one to the collection....you get the best of both their worlds.

Transcending the differences that "lie on the surface"

It was inspiring and hopeful to witness honest dialogue between two committed human beings from different backgrounds, with different styles of communication, and different beliefs arrive at some simple but profound truths without compromising themselves or ideas. A model for how personal and societal transformation can occur and facilitate the much needed creation of compassionate policies, when one is willing to be honest and stay engaged beyond the discomfort created by the illusive differences that "lie on the surface". Honest dialogue is the destination.....Honest To God a map.

Different Approach

Brad and Neale discuss a hard topic. It is easy to read and different in its conversational approach. Not a "How to Book" instead a book to get all of us thinking about how we can better our lives and live more peacefully by being hoest with each other.
