Book Overview

More than any other introductory psychology textbook, the Hockenburys' brief book presents the discipline with a unique understanding of today's students--emphasizing its relevance and immediate impact on their lives. Without sacrificing science, the authors draw on personal experiences and anecdotes to illustrate essential concepts and important research direction. The "Fourth Edition" incorporates hundreds of new research studies throughout, with particular attention to areas of intensive current research and enduring student interest, including neuroscience, lifespan development, memory, and gender and culture issues. Also new is the dramatically enhanced media and supplements package, offering more ways than ever to help students make the study of psychology a part of their world.

School

Have not read it all yet. But the parts I have read I liked. Informative and of course it was required by the professor.

Great Basic Information on Psychology

This is my first psychology class and this book has been everything I needed to get through all of the assignments. I have not used the online study center or the study guide, all the answers I needed were in the text.

Discovering Psychology

I found that this was one of the best textbooks I've owned. It deeply described the meanings of psychology. Through-out my entire semester, I found this book to be extremely helpful with my exams and research reports. I didn't really need that many references because the book had so many. A really awesome book.

Great Intro to Psych...

This is a *wonderful* book! It explains the basic concepts in Psychology in a clear and compassionate manner. Easy and enjoyable to read (this is a textbook we're talking about here!), I actually looked forward to doing the reading for class. All I can say is, thanks to my prof for requiring this book!
