With this book Hawke has done pretty much a perfect adaptation of Friday the 13th Part 6. It follows the movie and has some extra stuff in it that helps the story flow even better. It also delves deep into Jason's past with some great back-story and gives great into Jason's mind. Hawke tells a great horror story here. If you're a Friday the 13th fan, I HIGHLY recomend this book. This book could also make alot of non-Friday fans into fans. Hawke does a good job of telling the story of the best entry in the Friday series. Check this out!
Even better than the novelization of "Predator"!!!

A faithful adaptation of a truly terrifying horror film (with 8 pages of movie photos!), the novelization of "Jason Lives" goes one step further: it offers a glimpse into Jason's life BEFORE the tragic summer at Camp Crystal Lake.In a particularly well-written scene, young Jason gets even with a neighborhood bully. The unlucky lad is at Jason's DISPOSAL, if you get my drift.Even more shocking (and a plot-thread I wish they'd incorporated in the film series) is the graveside appearance of Jason's father. The description of Mr. Voorhees subtly foreshadows the revelation of otherworldly influences on Jason's life. The novel also does a stellar job of fleshing out Tommy Jarvis as a character, and gives some emotional resonance to the poor camp counselors who become Jason's latest victims (Cort, in particular, is my favorite). If you're a fan of Jason, don't miss this book!

I am not all the way finished with this book yet, but I've skipped ahead and glanced at a few chapters, and what I've read so far is cool. This is the best novelization of a Friday the 13th movie(and there aren't many of them). Simon Hawke is an excellent writer who also does a few others for the Jason movies. This book lends details the movie never even hinted at, including Jason having memories of his childhood. If you like this sequel, read the book for a great supplement. Also, there's a suprise cameo ending at the end I heard of and had to skip ahead and glance over briefly(not to spoil too much of the suprise for me). It was in the script originally, but Paramount cut the scene before it was shot, I heard( gotta love them, eh?). This book is out of print, but several copies are available on Ebay, and I even found one in a used book store by me. Get it !
