#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - Inspired by A Thousand and One Nights, this lush novel follows a fierce young woman who takes a dangerous gamble . . . to become the bride of a boy-king notorious for executing his wives at dawn. "Dreamily romantic, deliciously angst-y, addictively thrilling."--Kirkus Reviews "An intoxicating gem of a story."--Marie Lu, New York Times bestselling author of the Legend series One Life to One Dawn. In a land ruled by a murderous boy-king, each dawn brings heartache to a new family. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, is a monster. Each night he takes a new bride only to have a silk cord wrapped around her throat come morning. When sixteen-year-old Shahrzad's dearest friend falls victim to Khalid, Shahrzad vows vengeance and volunteers to be his next bride. Shahrzad is determined not only to stay alive, but to end the caliph's reign of terror once and for all. Night after night, Shahrzad beguiles Khalid, weaving stories that enchant, ensuring her survival, though she knows each dawn could be her last. But something she never expected begins to happen: Khalid is nothing like what she'd imagined him to be. This monster is a boy with a tormented heart. Incredibly, Shahrzad finds herself falling in love. How is this possible? It's an unforgivable betrayal. Still, Shahrzad has come to understand all is not as it seems in this palace of marble and stone. She resolves to uncover whatever secrets lurk and, despite her love, be ready to take Khalid's life as retribution for the many lives he's stolen. Can their love survive this world of stories and secrets?
Books a bit worn but what got me is they left the 2.99 sticker on it 🤔 i didn't get it for 2.99.
Arabian Nights with a twist

Saw this randomly in my recommended books list and thought “why not?” Finished it in a couple evenings and loved every minute. Shahrazad volunteers to become queen to take down the king who has been killing his wives every morning at dawn. As it is in every relationship, the more she learns about him, the more she realizes it’s not as black and white as she thought. Can’t wait to order book two!
Amazing YA Novel

As someone who has never read the original tale in which this book is inspired by, I cannot say if this was a good retelling of that. However, I really enjoyed the book, even though I wish that the romance was more of a slow-burn. I feel like the mc fell for the love interest rather quickly, and I felt the book would have been better if it was more the slow-burn type of romance.
Captivating!

From the first page to the last I could not put this book down. Not only only was the story amazingly well written, but the characters were well developed and I felt connected to them. I've already read the 2nd book and can't wait to read it!!
The Wrath and the Dawn: Top Book Recommendation

Based on Arabian Nights, this book is perfect for my high school classroom. Although it is a young adult book, anyone who loves fantasy and the original tale of Arabian Nights will love this book. An added bonus: there is an excellent webtoon based on the book. I've been recommending the book and webtoon to everyone and anyone.
