2019: New Year, New Books and Screen Releases

Coming up in 2019: sequels, new novels, and LOTS of book to screen adaptations! Among other things. Here are just a few of the fantastic titles either coming out on the page or on the big or small screen to be excited about.

The Books

• "The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm" by Christopher Paolini – just released December 31. Subtitled "Tales from Alagaësia Volume 1: Eragon" TFTFATW is the first in a new series of three short stories set in the world of Eragon's current Alagaësia adventures.
• "The Testaments," Margaret Atwood's sequel to The Handmaid's Tale – September
• "The Bride Test" by author of The Kiss Quotient Helen Hoang – May 7
• "The Dreamers" by Karen Thompson Walker – January 15
• Finding Dorothy by Elizabeth Letts is the backstory to The Wizard of Oz as told through the eyes of L. Frank Baum’s widow, Maud Gage (no dull moments!) – February 12

Books to Screen

• Captain Marvel (with Brie Larson as a female superhero…#girlpower) – March 8
• Season 3 of The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, Hulu – April
• Avengers: Infinity War – Part II, with Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, and Evangeline Lilly – May 3
• Aladdin (live action with Naomi Scott, Mena Massoud, and Will Smith) – May 24
• The Lion King (photorealistic computer animated), with Donald Glover, Beyoncé, James Earl Jones, John Oliver, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen – July 19
• Frozen 2 (animated), with Kirsten Bell and Idina Menzel – November 22
• The BFG, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, The Magic Finger, and The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl – TBD on Netflix
