Pulitzer-Prize-winning film critic Stephen Hunter is also a bestselling novelist and essayist. Born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1946, Hunter grew up in Illinois. He graduated with a journalism degree from Northwestern University, and was drafted into the U.S. Army. Hunter began his journalism career writing for the Pentagon News, a military paper, and joined The Baltimore Sun in 1971. He later became its film critic, a role which he later served for The Washington Post, from which he is now retired. Hunter has written eighteen thrillers and three non-fiction books, including two collections of his critical essays. He lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
