Kathryn Stockett's 2009 debut novel, The Help, has been published in forty-two languages and sold ten million copies. It spent nearly two years on the New York Times best seller list. The popular movie of The Help, released in 2011, earned Octavia Spencer the Best Supporting Actress Oscar and won the cast numerous Screen Actors Guild awards. Born in Mississippi in 1969, she grew up in her native state and graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in English and creative writing. After college, Stockett moved to New York City where she worked in marketing and magazine publishing. She currently lives in Atlanta.
