Inspirational!

This book is written to inspire people who are not already physically active on a regular basis to engage in any sport or activity that gets them moving, whether recreational or competitive. It is not limited to triathalons or to running, biking and swimming. While aimed primarily at older and/or overweight people, especially women, anyone interested in exercise will benefit from the cheerful, anecdotal discussion of topics like clothing, scheduling and positive thinking. The thoughts on participating in competitive sports for non-competitive reasons are excellent. General advice is given and some basic overall guidelines, like checking your heart rate, but no specific training guidelines or programs are included. The book is funny. It is easy to read in small bits, a few pages at a time.

Motivation you need

I found this book to be motivating and I learned a lot about exercising, resting, eating and the emotional-ness of exercise. I liked this book even though I am not training for a triathlete type experience. Many great tips on when to slow down, pick it up, eating, just getting out there, what to wear, everything.

OUTSTANDING!

As an overweight imperfect athlete, it is awesome to see another imperfect athlete out there campaigning for the rest of us. Jayne has a dynamic writing style that uses humor and reality to illustrate the emotions, thoughts, and obstacles that many of us face while training for our events. This book, and the previous book, brings the SFT (slow fat triathlete) out of the donut-shop and onto the field! Whether you are an endurance athlete, an aspiring athlete, or a Wii-athlete, Jayne's books will give you inspiration and hours of laughter! Perhaps if many more of us overweight, imperfect athletes band together - the clothing companies will see that not all of us fit into the extra-skinny clothing and they will actually make work out clothing for the rest of us! THANKS JAYNE!

If you need inspiration this is a Must Read!

Jayne does it again! An entertaining guide filled with inspiration to leave the couch behind. Great tools to help you battle the negative thoughts that can sabotage your goals. If you're a gal (or guy) starting out, or in need of some new focus this book is a great starting point. Make sure you also check out her first book Slow Fat Triathlete: Live Your Athletic Dreams in the Body You Have Now She did a triathlon, I've done a triathlon, wouldn't you like to do a triathlon too?
