Best Texas Travel Book

This book is extremely helpful if you are traveling in Texas. In particular, outdoor activities are much easier to prepare for using this book as an assistant. There are great maps, legends, and informational pieces that describe every square inch of Texas. Any person wishing to venture off road should have this in their vehicle or on their person.

Texas Atlas and Gazetteer

I have been through several of these. I use them until they fall apart and then get another. I purchased another brand after my last one fell apart. Used it once and did'nt like it. This is the best Texas Atlas made. The blowups and details of the metro areas make it particularly valueable.

Best of TX Maps

I bought this in conjunction with the "Roads Of" for Texas. I was introduced to these while stormchasing about 10 years ago and have always invested in the Roads Of atlases when I move to a new state. You could probably make do with either of these - both are terrific and complete resources but I think is probably more user-friendly if you are not a natural navigator. I'm also using it now to find areas with the least roads for future property investment. This book is a fine investment for anyone who chases, travels often in the hinterlands or just wishes to have that CYA in the back seat if everything goes to hell in a handbasket.

Texas Atlas & Gazeteer

This is the best map book of Texas. The maps are large and easy to read, but still very detailed. Not only does it show the big cities and towns but it shows all the farm roads and back roads. The book lists campgrounds, national forests, state parks, places for hunting and fishing. You can look up ANY place in Texas and find it in here. It is a wonderful map book.
