Great book. I used it in my college class.

I enjoyed this book a lot and loaned it to a friend. He loved it too. It's loaded with real-life examples. He's a skilled writer, funny, and engaging. I'm using it this semester in one of my communication classes I teach. The students love it and enjoy seeing how the concepts they learn from other books get applied in very practical ways.

I am what I plan to be

So Smart But...made me really think, deeply, about the importance of the perception of others. If leadership is influence then the only way you can influence others is by allowing them to percieve you as credible. The 5+1 characteristics of crediblity discused in the book bring to life how people can become whatever they want to be by self regulation of the areas of communication that weaken their credibility. The +1 characteristic of crediblity, goodwill, can make us all better partners, counterparts, and especially, people. Allen Weiner hits the mark with this communication digest of anecdotes that are relevant to all areas of business and life. You don't ever need to buy a presentation skills book or class if you have this book in your library.

So Smart, but

Dr. Weiner's book is a MUST for anyone who talks and listens to people. It is full of excellent, easy to use tips. To me, what makes it special is that everything he shares with the reader is based on solid and extensive research. I believe it is the best book on communications I have ever read - and I have read a lot of them during my 81 years.

So Smart But . . .

Bought it, read it and really enjoyed it. I am an attorney in LA and work a great deal in the employment area. I found it to be both insightful and helpful. I plan to give copies to a few of my clients. Steve Albright
