Financial and estate planning in novel format

This mystery has a bizarre murder that is difficult to figure out until it is explained at the end. Don's central character is always eating or craving pizza and beer and in some instances becomes infectious. I liked the sprinkling of financial and estate planning explanations throughout the book. This book is a quick read for some afternoons at the beach or a few sessions on the tread mill.

very dry humor

I really enjoyed the dry humor in this novel, as well as how the author combined financial information with really funny characterizations. I look forward to reading more about Anderson Crown's adventures.

Payable on Death is a fun and easy read

A fun mystery with quirky characters and a terrific plot. Explains financial concepts very well too. I read this book on a beautiful autumn day off from work, under the trees in my backyard. It was just the mental health break I needed. I loved the characters, the plot development, the humor, the flow that made it easy reading - I loved it all!

Totally engrossing

Do you ever want to read a book just for fun? This is it. You start reading about this investment advisor, Andy Crown - and it's actually easy to identify with him. He doesn't know how to say 'no' to clients who need his help, to family members, to...and just gets sucked into the oddest situations. Of course, most of us don't find ourselves dealing with murders. But you could see how hard it can be to extricate yourself once the ball starts rolling. Or you will, if you pick up this book. I read most of the book in one afternoon, soaking in a bubble bath. I couldn't put it down. Even though the water got colder as the plot thickened. Oh yes, you'll learn about a good Italian restaurant in NY, too. And with all the references to foods, you just might gain a pound or two.

A fun read!

Payable on Death is a fun read - it kept me on the edge of something during my last trip. The flawed hero moves forward through an adventure, never quite getting what he wants but always, miraculously, getting what he needs. The author is a financial writer, writing about a fictional - what else? - financial advisor. Buy a copy and take it along the next time you go somewhere. It will make you laugh and the time fly.
