Another great little read from Jack Kutz.

After reading both Mysteries and Miracles of New Mexico books by Jack Kutz, I thought I would try the Colorado book since it had one favorable review. I am surprised that it had only 1 review! At first I was a little apprehensive, could Colorado have enough mystique that is often associated with New Mexico? Then, after reading the book, I was sure that Jack had presented some of that Colorado mystique. I had actually read some of the stories before (Alferd Packer and his gruesome journey, Snippy the horse and the beginning of animal mutlilation cases, Felipe Espinosa and Tom Tobin, offical investigation of UFO's by Condon, and high country spook lights). However, there were plenty of other stories which were new and very enjoyable. Take for example the story surrounding the family in Fort Carson. Their newly purchased ranch becomes a nightmare of Bigfoot and UFO encounters very similar to "The Hunt for the Skinwalker" with "The Mothman Prophecies" thrown in for good measure. It's a great chapter. Then we have all the chapters on lost treasures, ghosts, and the Granby Idol. Overall, this is another great little book from Jack Kutz. As I mentioned in my reviews of the two book on New Mexico in the same series, these are perfect books to stow along while travelling. Now, I have to try to the other three.

A neat, interesting book

This book tells a number of stories about all kinds of bizarre aspects of Colorado history. There are ghost stories, tales of murder, mysteries of the supernatural, and other things. Among the stories it tells are Alferd Packer, Bridey Murphy, a number of different ghost stories, UFO tales, and such.Though Colorado isn't especially known for having a colorful history of this kind, the author goes through the "annals of history" to dig up a bunch of intriguing, colorful mysteries. The author tells the stories in a very compelling fashion. - many of them would make excellent campfire tales. He also puts an historical spin on the older stories.Although some are familiar (those dealing with UFOs and cattle mutilations in particular), he's able to make these tales sound fresh, new and interesting. A highly recommended book for all who are interested in supernatural phenomena or Colorado history.
