Readers should understand that this is the ONLY overview of Irish Literature we have in print. It is a perfect text for American students, the best text there is to serve as the foundation text for any introductory Irish Studies course. The editors chose to forgo inclusion of literary works readily available for the most part (Yeats, O'Casey, and the like), to give precedence to more to those that are harder to find, but which need to be studied seriously in order to get an overall understanding of Irish literature.
