The joys and responsibilities of being a teacher

As a college teacher with almost thirty years experience, I appreciate appreciation and celebration as much as any other teacher. My personal belief is that teachers are often educated more by their students than the students are by the teachers. This collection of happy thoughts about teachers warms the heart while it humbles the ego. Teaching done well is a powerful force in society but done badly it can scar for life. I enjoyed reading these brief statements about education and found myself wondering if my students are saying the same things about me, both good and bad, that are put forward in this book.

A nice gift for teachers

Soon after I started teaching, I received Celebrating Teachers from a family member. This is one of those little books that you can pick up and put down easily, reading one page or ten pages with equal ease. It contains many quotes from famous people, regarding education and the field of teaching, but it interspersed his statements of appreciation from everyday folk on topics such as who is your best teacher and why, or what is the funniest thing a student ever said to you. As I said in the title, this is a very good gift for teachers of all experience levels.
