Abigale the Happy Whale

I love this book, but I have to report that the seller sent me a library book that to my knowledge was NOT a discarded book. I e-mailed the seller to ask how he/she acquired this book and received no response. I hope it was not a stolen book.

Children will enjoy

All the humpback whales that live in Santa Monica are sad, except for Abigale the Happy Whale. Abigale thinks that her school is going on a trip to the beach. On the way, she meets up with all her sea friends who question her about why whales would be going to the beach. Abigale helps her friends who have had their beds squished by things people throw into the ocean, or are hit on the head by golf clubs when they are tossed in the sea, or might have a tire stuck on their nose. Finally, Abigale is fed up with all the questions, and she asks her school teacher why they were going to the beach. Her teacher explains that they aren't going to the beach, rather they are going to beach themselves so people will learn what pollution is doing to the ocean. This makes Abigale sad. Is there anything she can do that will teach humans about water pollution without the whales having to become beached? Abigale the Happy Whale is a cute story for four-to eight-year-olds. It is written in an adorable, yet quirky manner, and the characters have unique names, such as, Golfin' Dolphin, or Wordsmith the Swordfish. The book had several instances in it that made even my fifteen-year-old laugh out loud, and it completely held the interest of my four-year-old daughter, who wanted me to read it over and over. Abigale the Happy Whale is a wonderful way to teach children what pollution does to our oceans and how it affects the sea creatures. I recommend ABIGALE THE HAPPY WHALE for your favorite child. Armchair Interviews says: The illustrations are colorful and well-done and Abigale the Happy Whale is guaranteed to keep your child engaged.

...will appeal to fans of the film 'Finding Nemo', and will give readers an environmental science le

For some strange reason, all of the humpback whales residing in Santa Monica, California are quite gloomy. All except for one, that is. And that special Santa Monica humpback whale is Abigale the Happy Whale. Unfortunately, Abigale doesn't seem to realize that she should be glum right now, as well, considering that all of her sea friends are in big trouble, now that there is so much pollution in the ocean. Once Abigale discovers the reason why all of her friends are so sad, she feels sad, as well. However, instead of floating around, and not doing anything to cheer her pals up, she decides to make a difference. One that will save her friends - as well as cheer them up - and protect the ocean from being polluted by the land-dwellers anymore. At first glance, I thought that this was another cute under-the-sea adventure. However, upon further inspection, I realized that ABIGALE THE HAPPY WHALE actually conveys a special message that will teach young readers - as well as their parents - the hazards of pollution, and spread the word that the ocean is not a dump. Peter Farrelly has done a lovely job of creating a crew of intelligent characters - including Clem the Clam, Moby Duck, Wordsmith the Swordfish, and Golfin' Dolphin, among others - and brought them together to teach a lesson that will stay emblazoned in the readers' mind for years to come. Accompanied by gorgeous, eye-catching illustrations by Jamie Rama, ABIGALE THE HAPPY WHALE will appeal to fans of the film FINDING NEMO, and will give readers an environmental science lesson they'll never forget.
