Read this book

I really enjoyed this book. I found the scientific content interesting and entertaining. Hearing about a new concept that seems both possible and intriguing was very satisfying. The suspense filled pace of this book moved quickly with many entertaining plot twists. The characters Mr. Norville created were probably what I liked the most about this book. They were engaging and kept you involved. I encourage not only people interested in science to read this but anyone who loves a good mystery and love story that also stimulates the intellect.

Norville Scores Again!

Rod Norville's second novel is a fabulous work comparable to the very best science fiction being published today. Norville, like sci-fi great Isaac Asimov, is a learned man with a wide range of science knowledge. Norville uses his knowledge to creat a true winner of a sci-fi novel. A MAN BEYOND TIME tells the tale of Greg Philips, a pioneer in the science of time travel. Philips dances back and forth across time barriers, initially to correct a mistake of his youth that haunts him as an adult. Complications arise when a sinister villian from the future begins to stalk him. The story includes elements of suspense and romance. He falls in love with a woman he admired as a teen, and the villian inflicts horrors upon Philips' family which Philips must then avenge. The book is a quick read dealing with complex issues. In addition to his scientific knowledge, Norville's carefull historical research of the Riverside commonuity in 1950s and 1960s Southern California literally made this sci-fi work as thoroughly grounded in the past as it soared into the future. Norville knows his material. He knows how to write. I cannot recall reading a finer work of science fiction in a decade. I recommend Rod Norville's A MAN BEYOND TIME highly and without any reservations.

A quick paced easy read, with an engaging story line

In "A Man Beyond Time", Rod Norville has gracefully combined a highly technical subject with an action packed story line to create a thoroughly enjoyable quick read. The science is adequately described and easy to follow, but doesn't overwhelm the great plot. The pace is almost non-stop, with enough twists and turns for a taffy factory. The hero is a very likable scientist, whose discovery can change the world. When he becomes the hunted, his intelligence and creativity sends us on a whirlwind chase over 8 decades. Highly recommended for anyone who likes classic science fiction, or just an entertaining novel.

A great read - time travel, secret govt psychic projects, and the silicon valley

The recent "A Man Beyond Time" by Rod Norville was a great read. Norville's book reads easily with a tone like the original giants of early science fiction. The scientist/hero of the story is much like some of Heinlein or Asimov's early characters with a tough get it done attitude inflected by deep scientific knowledge in a style that harkens back to the foundations of the genre. Rod Norville's incorporation of his electron microscope knowledge along with his intimate knowledge of the Silicon Valley environs produce wonderful vignettes that might be familiar to those who know these areas. Finding them is a wonderful surprise for the reader so inclined. His mentioning of the many secret govt psychic programs run in the area in real life is also a nice touch. The book weaves reality and fiction well. The book rushes along with a sense of adventure and urgency and offers a great respite from the modern world. Instead of aliens this book contains nice human dramas that could be played out in any literary style so if you aren't a science fiction fan...there is something for you too. The cover art is evocative and adds the enjoyment of the book.
