J.A. Jance

Judith Ann Jance, better known as J.A. Jance, was born in 1944 in South Dakota, raised in Bisbee, Arizona and graduated from the University of Arizona. She began using her initials for her pen name after a publisher suggested being a woman would be a disadvantage for sales of her horror novels and mysteries. The author of numerous bestselling mystery series, Jance has also worked as a teacher, school librarian, and insurance salesperson. She divides her time between Seattle and Tucson, Arizona.
