Role of local people in promoting ecotourism

Ecotourism was first brought to Africa in the 1950s, when hunting was made legal (Miller, 2007). Protected areas, national parks, and game reserves were made because people wanted places to hunt for fun. In the 1980s, more people learned about and studied the idea of ecotourism.

Tourism has put roads in a lot of places on the earth's surface, cutting into all kinds of ecosystems. It has been given a lot of different names and specializations, but the term "Eco-tourism" is the one that has really caught the attention of the tourism business. It has become the buzzword in the tourism industry, and most types of tourism are being promoted with renewed zeal and energy as ecotourism. Eco tourism is described as being good for the environment, long-lasting, based in nature, and helpful to native people and local communities.
