Zenith Man: Death, Love, and Redemption in a Georgia Courtroom

Like a nonfiction John Grisham thriller with echoes of Rainman, Just Mercy, and a captivating smalltown Southern setting, this is the fascinating true story--sometimes humorous, sometimes heartbreaking--of an idealistic young lawyer determined to free an innocent neurodivergent man accused of murdering the wife no one knew he had.

An inspiring argument for compassion in the pursuit of true justice for readers of Midnight...

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil for a new generation.

The cadence and storytelling style harkens back to the earlier work of another book that followed a murder trial in the south. But where Midnight followed a dark story that left the reader wondering about the actual guilt or innocence of the accused, Zenith Man is a stubborn pursuit of the truth and innocence where the accused is not always a willing participant in the hunt! An incredibly entertaining read that follows a path to redemption for both the client and attorney that leads to a decades long friendship between two very different men, where neither realized how much they needed the other. Top shelf writing!

Stranger Than Fiction Book About the True Crime That Wasn't!

Written in highly entertaining style,The Zenith Man is the ultimate true crime that wasn't! You won't be able to put down this tale of the arrest and murder trial of Alvin Ridley, an older man with undiagnosed autism, who was accused of keeping his rarely-seen reclusive wife imprisoned and eventually killing her. It is also about the unlikely friendship that developed between these two very different people. Besides true crime fans (especially those true crimes that are stranger and more fascinating than fiction), folks who love someone with an intellectual disability will love this book. When those with autism and the like encounter the legal system, the results are rarely good and often disastrous, as in Alvin's case. Hopefully, Poston's book will help bring light to the hidden plight of those who have to face the justice system without having the capacity to quite understand what is going on. Thank goodness McCracken Poston stepped up or Alvin Ridley might be another innocent man sitting or dying behind bars. The Zenith Man is filled with colorful, sometimes flamboyant small town characters. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you will LOVE THIS BOOK.
