A book of short stories by Yelena Litinskaya "Librarian's Notes, or My Town Brooklyn" is not about fascinating adventures of rich and famous. On the contrary, it describes not so simple lives of common Brooklyn folks of different social groups, from librarians to homeless. The stories are written by the insider, since the author has been working thirty years in the Brooklyn Public library. Litinskaya skillfully walks a fine line between drama and comedy, forcing readers to smile with tears in their eyes. The author's style is clear and concise and characters came out brightly vivid. Yelena Litinskaya was born in Moscow. She graduated from the Moscow State University with the Master's degree in Slavic Languages and Literature. In 1979 she immigrated to the United States, where she received another Master's degree in Library and Information Science. She has published 7 books of poetry and short stories in Russian: "Monologue of the last snow" (1992), "In search of me" (2002), "At the canal" (2002), "Through the time distance" (2011), "From Spiridonovka to Sheepshead Bay" (2013), "Games with Muses" (2015), "Woman in a free space"(2016). One can find her poems, short stories and articles in literary journals, magazines and almanacs in the US, Europe and Canada. Yelena resides in Brooklyn, NY. She is one of the editors of the literary magazine "Gostinaya" (gostinaya.net) and is also the president of the Brooklyn Russian Poetry Club.
