Zane Grey: Greatest Western Writer Ever

This book belongs on any shelf which holds other biographical works about Zane Grey. It ranks up there with Carlton Jackson’s book Zane Grey (Twayne's United States Authors Series) and also Jean Karr’s Zane Grey: Man of the West—the first real biography about Zane Grey from 1949. Many books about Zane Grey have been written since this one, but most of them wander away from the content of the stories in the books and focus on his life and philosophy often trying to make it as lurid as possible, thereby demeaning and hurting his reputation—that’s the way I see it. But Ann Ronald keeps to the known and provable facts, and the fascinating hardships Zane Grey had to endure to get his work published. And how Dolly, Zane Grey's wife continued to encourage him. A marvelous little book about the greatest there ever was or will be who put words on paper about the glorious West.
