This heartwarming tale presents Zak, a lovable mutt trying to find out who he is. On his journey, Zak meets children, dogs, cats, and even a lion who help him in his search. Zak's adventures are brought to life in thirty hand-colored photographs and a text, all by his best human friend, Jane Lidz. Zak's odyssey will delight children and dog lovers of all ages. Zak was adopted by Jane Lidz from an animal shelter in 1970. He spent his puppyhood in the Colorado Rockies, his youth on a Wisconsin farm, his adult years near the Oregon coast, and his retirement in the California sunshine.
I actually did not read the story myself, but rather it was "read to me" by MisterRogers and Mr. McFeeley on a recent Public TV broadcast. Disarmingly friendly as one might expect since presented by Fred Rogers.
Great book for kid's self-esteem.
