Yue Fei was a military general during the Southern Song dynasty of China (1127-1279). He had been lauded throughout history as a brave patriot with awe-inspiring moral courage and was deeply conscious of the righteousness of his cause in saving his country. Yue Fei's spirit was also regarded as the national spirit of the Chinese people.

He was best known for leading Southern Song forces in the wars of the 12th century between Southern Song and the Jurchen-ruled Jin dynasty in northern China, before being executed by the Southern Song government in 1142 under a heartless, despicable concocted charge. Yue Fei left a legacy of courage under fire and the willingness to sacrifice for the common good.
