Bob Larson was a liaison officer with the U.S. Army to the local German authorities in Stuttgart, Germany. He wrote this book as a sort of guide for newly arrived Americans so that they could understand the sometimes strange behaviour of the people surrounding them, in this case the "Swabians" who live around Stuttgart. It also gives some historical background and it even teaches the occasional Swabian who reads it something about himself. The only bad thing is that the book, as well as it's "sister books" "Getting Along With The Germans" and "Schnitzel Bags, Snap Daddies and Mox Nix Sticks" are out of print.
