Excellent Knowledge

This book was given to me as a gift and I really enjoyed it. The author clearly has excellent knowledge on cats and a plus is when the author shares personal experiences too. (that was my favorite part) Since my cat is no longer with me, this book really got me excited to plan another adoption in the future. Will look for more from this author.

A "must-have" reference and resource for any new cat owner

Knowledgeably written by Kim Campbell Thornton (a past president of Cat Writers Association of America), Your New Cat is a straightforward guide to caring for, feeding, grooming, and protecting a beloved new feline pet, whether a kitten or an adult cat. Especially important are the warnings of common household poisons (antifreeze is lethal to animals, yet they will consume it if it is left out due its sweet taste!), hazards, and poisonous plants, and other things to watch out for to keep one's animal safe. Your New Cat is a superb primer and an absolute "must-have" reference and resource for any new cat owner.

Packed with Information!

As a "mother" to two cats, I didn't think I had a lot to learn about how to care for cats, but Thornton's "Your New Cat" proved me wrong. Whether you are a cat pro who's had cats for years or are a complete novice thinking about adopting your first cat, "Your New Cat" provides a great deal of useful information presented in an easy to read format. Topics include whether you should adopt a kitten or an older cat, is dry food better than wet food, what kind of cat to get if you have children, getting a cat from a breeder versus an animal shelter, how to give cats medication, signs of illness to look out for, and characteristics of the different breeds, among many other topics. "Your New Cat" is a must read for any cat parent!
