A Very Helpful Book

I read Eva Marie Stasiak's book and was extremely glad I did. As a father of a two-year old, it was refreshing that some of the cost saving methods my wife and I used, when my toddler was a newborn and infant, were mentioned in the book. It was also helpful to us as we plan to bring a new bundle of joy into our lives in the next year or so. Stasiak's book appeals to me because she is currently a mother of a young child. Many of the books on preparing people for the life-altering world of parenthood are written by older parents whose children have grown and had children of their own. No disrespect to these authors, many of them are experts in their fields, but for me it was nice having someone who has dealt with raising a baby in these current economically strapped times. The book is well written and informative. It speaks to the parent or future parent directly instead of just being a book telling abstract people how to save money. It is also refreshing to read a book on babies and parenthood and not have the author try and get an agenda across (i.e. breastfeeding is the ONLY way or a mother should not be a career woman when a child is young, etc). I read the book and recommended it to my wife who stated she would recommend it to many of the mothers she has met on "mommy" internet groups. I would give this book five out of five stars.

Valuable Resource for New Parents

This is a book every new (or expecting) mother should read. Eva Marie Stasiak has written a smart, practical guide for budgeting everything baby will need or want in his first year, including those surprise expenses that can set any middle-class family back. Stasiak makes it so easy to create a budget. Just write the subject headings you see in the book into the items list of your budget, reading each chapter as you go. She gives annual costs of things like diapers and formula. (Turns out the diaper rash ointment my pharmacist recommended was cost effective.) She also gives prices of big ticket items like cribs and strollers. Best of all, she has creative ways for finding bargains. There is another more important idea that runs throughout this book. When raising a baby, it's not about how much money you spend. It's about the love you give.

Your New Baby

Wow what a great book. If you are planning for a baby, or you are a Mom-to-be, or a new mom this a must have book. It is simply on of the greatest books on how to plan, budget, and shop for your new little. It is an easy to follow and has testimonies from moms who have tried the examples and found them to work great. If you are looking for a book to help you get ready for a new one or even adjust to the little one in your home this is the book for you.

Exactly what a new mom needs!

Where was this book when I had my first baby? This book is jam-packed with helpful tips and advice, explained in a way that only an experienced parent can. Ms. Stasiak has hit the nail on the head when it comes to her recommendations. She has left no stone unturned, and I loved the case studies and "quick tips" sprinkled throughout the book. She even addresses seemingly simple topics such as bathing with thoughtful detail. Her advice on safety, how to save money, and when to use (and not to use) secondhand items is excellent, and she provides a concise source list at the back of the book for all supplies and services you will need as a new parent. I know a few expectant moms, and this book will make the perfect shower gift!

Your New Baby

Eva Marie Stasiak in Insider Secrets to Save Thousands on All Your Baby's Needs paints a realistic portrayal of parenthood with case studies that illustrate her advice put into practice. Stasiak preaches necessities over desires and brand loyalty, maintaining a budget and providing quality to the new baby instead of quantity. She does this by advising "thriftiness" while keeping "your budget in the back of your mind and your baby in the front of your mind". The most informative part of the book is Stasiak's seven steps to a baby-friendly budget: determining living costs, determining your income, eliminating unnecessary expenses, creating a monthly budget, saving, smart shopping and planning for the future. Your New Baby offers comprehensive advice to parenting including unexpected expenses from diapers to vehicle changes.
