Book Overview

From the beginning, God created women and men equal in dignity, value, and worth. But our identity as daughters of God has been contested, both inside and outside of the church, and we're left wondering if we actually belong in the church--and the kingdom. Sharing the stories of the unsung women of the Bible, Amy Seiffert reveals how Jesus befriended, defended, healed, and depended upon women--and will do the same for you. Weaving biblical truth with thoughtful teaching, she empowers you to

- exchange fear and doubt for confidence and faith
- know a just God in the face of injustice
- stand firm in your dignity despite being marginalized
- tell a story of healing and hope through your scars
- use your unique gifts to show the world the goodness of God

As you read Scripture, you'll see women are not second-class: They're image-bearers of the Most High. Without women--without you--the fullness of God's image is incomplete. And in his Kingdom, you are seen, heard, known, and commissioned to bring his redeeming love and truth to this world.

You are Daughter

“Your Name is Daughter”. You, the one reading this review. Amy is talking you. Female. Woman. Mother. Sister. Daughter.Amy explores and narrates in her words the stories of well known and not-so-well known women of the Bible. Amy tells the story of a lesser known woman named Huldah (2 Kings 22:14). She was one of five prophets during King Josiah’s reign. King Josiah sent for her. A woman chosen over four other men. What I loved about Huldah’s story (and others) was Amy told each daughter’s story through a modern-daughter-lens. Amy used poetic license by recreating each daughter’s story to line up with yours and with mine. I felt like I was reading about me. I was reading the stories of these incredible daughters and was reading and seeing my story woven into theirs—woven into God’s. Amy’s words grabbed me and pulled me into the lives of Huldah, Elizabeth, Mary, King Namaan’s wife’s servant girl, all of them. Amy’s conversational writing style in this book made it easy to read, held my attention, and kept me wanting more. Not only that…I found myself opening my Bible and reading about these women. Amy did have some passages about these women but I wanted to know what happened before and after these women’s stories were introduced. Amy shows us how important women are to the fabric of God’s great story from creation to the present. Amy tells us that God’s story is not complete with us…us daughters. We are crucial and necessary to God’s greater picture and to His story. Amy reminds us that women WERE important in the OT. She shows us this through the women she mentioned. She tells us about how Jesus lifted women up in His ministry. Women were so very important to Jesus’s ministry on earth. Each daughter’s story brought me closer to understanding one of the many parts of God’s character. Women bring a softer, more loving and empathetic side to life and God uses us daughters for His greater good.Amy’s writing is fun, conversational, educational, and refreshing. She is one daughter I’d love to sit with, drink coffee and talk about Jesus!

Learn what the unsung women of the Bible have to teach us about our worth as women of God!

“You, sister can be a pillar who speaks with confidence as you listen to what God is saying. You can raise your voice of encouragement, of truth, of prophecy, of discernment, of love. You have been given a voice to use, not to hide.” This book taught me so much about my worth as a woman of God and my identity as a Daughter. This book invites us into the lives of the unsung heroes of the Bible letting us “slip on their sandals” and examine their stories. Amy is an encouraging and soul-stirring guide who leads us to dig deep in discovering how Jesus befriended, healed, empowered, and commissioned women and how He is still doing this for us today. The book will touch your heart deeply as you encounter the counter-cultural love of Jesus that stops for the marginalized, those who feel forgotten and unknown, and calls them Daughter.
