A life without faith is the recipe for for absolute boredom, Rod Parsley tells us on page 35 of this inspiring book. On the previous page he reminds us of the Scripture, "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also" (James 2:26). Parsley tells you how to exercise your faith. Setting the right enviroment for faith to grow is the prerequisite. He encourages you to listen to His Word preached, hear songs about His Word, and speak the Word to yourself regularly. All these are means of creating the atmosphere for faith to increase. In addition to faith, Parsley covers two more powerful forces, hope and love. He notes, "...love is the fullest expression of the nature of God" (p. 12). Pastor Parsley writes, "hope is always in the future tense. Hope is the conviction that something shall happen, that it shall come to pass" (p. 53). Another insightful comment on hope as it is linked to faith in action is, "Hope literally shows faith where to go and what to do and then turns it loose to accomplish its purpose" (p. 54). Although this book isn't thick, it is filled with meaty spiritual food. There is good depth here for mature believers seeking to be wiser stewards who grow in their relationship to God. Reading this book is time well spent.
