In this First Edition, published in September 2024, the ermerging voice the poet Mike Jenkins reached the printed page after 34 years incubating in the scrawls of handwritten notebooks, from a fountrain pen he's been determined to master since boyhood. The handwriting has got a long way to go, but the poems have reached a new maturity. The collection has since been updated with a preface, acknolwedements, a contents page and much improved fonts and typesetting by Editor and Author Chris Middleton of Hyper Press, in the newly published Second Edition. With stories of hope, love, and happiness in fleeting moments, and pain, longing, and despair in others, these poems are never less than beautiful, honest, and breathtakingly original - sharing the voices of mothers, fathers, lovers, and - at times - of darkness itself. But at the heart of this collection is a simple idea: you, me and all humans have something that a masterful pen cannot every truly capture. Mike Jenkins is a poet, storyteller, playwright, and Guildhall-trained actor. He is was a co-founder and co-host of the popular Words Out Loud open-mic night in Chichester, and of its diverse entertainment spin-off, Seven Up. He lives in Sussex.
